ATAL BIMIT VYAKTI KALYAN YOJNA

Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana is a welfare scheme that is launched by the government to provide welfare to the insured person who has lost his job for some reason and is unemployed for a certain amount of time. All employees who are insured under ESI ACT 1948 can avail of this scheme and get financial assistance during their unemployment period.



Launch Year -Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana was launched on 01 July 2018 on a pilot basis initially for 2 years but later on it was extended up to 30 June 2021 but due to an increase in pandemic situation it has been extended up to 30 June 2022.

Ministry -This scheme was launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Implementing Agency -ESIC(Employee State Insurance Corporation).

Aim -The main aim of the government by launching Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana is to help all those employees who work in organized sectors and lost their jobs due to some reason. With this scheme financial assistance is provided to all the employees who are enrolled under ESI ACT 1948 and have lost their jobs due to COVID pandemic or some other reason but that reason shouldn't be employees' wrong behavior.

Eligibility -
  • Employee should be covered under ESIC ACT 1948.
  • The Insured person should have been under Insurable employment for 2 years.
  • Employee should have a genuine reason for losing his/her job.
  • The Insured person should have contributed for not less than 78 days during each of the preceding four periods.
  • Bank account and Aadhar of the Insured person should be linked.
Benefits -
  • Financial relief of 50% of average wages is payable up to max 90 days of unemployment, Initially it was 25%.
  • Initially the claim period or relief will be payable after 90 days of unemployment but later on it was reduced to 30 days of unemployment.
  • All Insured employees of the organized sector can avail of this scheme but can avail themselves only once in a lifetime.
  • Financial relief is transferred directly to an employee's bank account.
